(Orkut Blog) We know that having a great picture is important because it's the first thing people see on your profile page. Needless to say, each of us cares a lot choosing just the right one. To give you a bit more control, now you can crop your picture after uploading to it orkut.
It's super easy: just select the file, click upload and you'll see a cropping window on the next page. Drag the window with your mouse to select the part of the photo you'd like to be your picture. You can also change the size and the shape of the window by dragging the corners to include or exclude as much of the backdrop as you'd like. When you're done, click the "crop photo" button, and, voila, you will have a new profile photo.
For the "visually stimulated" here is some brief instructions on how to crop your images inside Orkut:
First visit http://www.orkut.com/EditSummary.aspx (in order to shorten the amount of steps necessary to edit your photo).
Next, click on the change photo link...
...in which a screen will pop up.
Simply click on the browse button and upload your favorite photo. After you are done, the mini window will load again and give you the option of cropping your uploaded master piece, or leaving the original.
For the adventurous, you can choose how large to crop your profile...
...and when you are finished simply click the crop photo button in order to enjoy your new image!
Note: For those of you wondering, I edited the image within Picasa for effects, which I highly recommend, especially for the ladies.
Suggestion: I wonder if Orkut could extend this feature upon the Orkut albums, or (even better) add some of the Picasa effect options within the image editor feature?
